THE RE/MAX
Two (2) more days till the RE/MAX!!! It has been a lot of preparation, and hope that the turnout is good for those who show!! Sent notices to over 40 golf courses, and hit the local courses about as hard as anyone can who also takes responsibility for keeping 13 acres under control, and doing all that goes with it! The real hope is that this will be a beginning, despite the many challenges! Hitting a golf ball longer than anyone else takes a great deal of skill, aside from having a good day! Thanks to the people who have made this possible, especially this first year!

Flag Pole
Our Flag Pole is currently flying a "Don't Tread on Me," flag...for no apparent reason, other than, it's one of two that we have bought so far this year. The flag pole is actually an old lamp post we acquired from Well Spring that we donated a sum for, had some holes drilled in, and then, put some rocks around and put fake flowers in the base, after putting in a horse trough donated by one of our followers, after setting a fence post in the ground, and after checking to see that it would stand up under 60+ mph winds, we put the landscaping rock around it. Things are of course, hopefully going to get prettier as time goes on, but, not bad for a start, eh?

Lost Driving Range Equipment for Use
We have equipment for you to use at our driving range. If you don't have your sticks with you, or you and still want to pop some balls while you are at lunch, or laying over at Flying J waiting till you can hit the road again, you can use some of ours! We're 1.25 miles north on Elk Vale Road from the Flying J, almost dead north from Cabela's and between Dyess Avenue, and Elk Vale Road...look for the flagpole on the south side of the road next to the ponderosa pine fence. If we're not there, the golf balls are available under the BBQ lid, just text us where you left the cash! Any other special event or events, you might want to consider, try us, we can put together golf outings of a lot of different types for your enjoyment...431-9551.
Lost Driving Range "Duck Dakota Dynasty" skeet golf ball shooting
This is one thing you can do at the "Lost" Driving Range, that you can't do at any other driving range in the Rapid City area. We are available to have individual skeet shoot driving range golf ball target shoot sessions, or group fun driving range golf ball skeet shoot target shoot sessions, if you schedule the same in advance. What a great way to have some fun, relax, get together, and practice both your golf game, and/or sharpen your shooting eye(s) for dove, duck, pheasant, grouse, or any other bird season. Feel free to call us at 605-431-9551; and we can discuss arranging the same for you individually or for your group. Birthday party? League? Let's talk!!

The RE/MAX-Jun 23
How did we come to host the RE/MAX?? Long story. In 1993, I competed in the RE/MAX in Minneapolis, Minnesota. My interest in the Long Drive was heightened by generally always being able to hit the ball long, although not as long as some people I had played with over the years in competetive golf. Two individuals stand out as "long knockers," I had played with over the years, one was John Long, who I attended USD with during the late 1970s, and who I played in "short stops," with; and the other was Dave Preheim from Watertown. Those were two (2) guys who could knock it a mile.
In any event, I generally could win long drives in tournaments, or during mens days, but I wanted to see how I stacked up against the real "big hitters." Unfortunately, even using a borrowed John Daly "Whale," I didn't even come close. I put one out past 270, but on the day of the event in Mpls., the wind was about 45 mph into your face, and the range was hitting into a hill at an angle of about the 12th at Meadowbrook, if you were hitting from the green down to uphill.
That passed, and some years later, while living in Mesquite, Nevada; the RE/MAX finals were hosted there, where they still are today.
My interest grabbed me about 3-4 years ago; in looking for opportunities to do something further with my life; when, I began looking for acreage for an investment, with the long-term goal of eventually turning the driving range into a park-model trailer development. I needed a flat piece of ground, at least 300' deep; which this ground is; yet, at some point wanting to put in an indoor facility similar to "World of Golf," formerly on Jackson Blvd., and before that, in the strip mall, just off of Catron Boulevard. Eventually, want to have an indoor facility, with a miniature golf course on the east end of the property.
THEN...a development in between the two facilities, similar to desertskiesresort.com, where I lived in Mesquite. This development would be ideal, particularly in this area.
Hence, the RE/MAX; and hopefully a long term relationship with one of my best partners in life...GOLF!!!

The ReMax or RE/MAX
"THE REMAX IS COMING"...what is the ReMax?? The ReMax is a competitive "Long Drive Championship." In fact, it is the premiere long drive event. It is being hosted on June 23, from the hours of 11 am to 4 pm, at our driving range. The field is wide open. Amateurs and pros may compete for a chance to win $150,000. From this event, qualifiers competing in two (2) categories, those under 45 years of age, and those over 45 years of age; can qualify for the Regional Long Drive event, to be held later this summer in St. Louis, MO.
If the person(s) qualify in St. Louis, they will be offered the chances to launch their drive(s), at the World Finals, in Mesquite, Nevada; where the World Finals have been conducted for a number of years. The winners of this competition, will achieve fame and fortune. Especially those who qualify in the "under 45" age category. Typically, this/these winners, have secured equipment endorsement packages, "touring professional," status, in that they can show up at almost golf course, tournament, or event; and receive pay in some form. Not to mention, they walk away with $150,000.00 cash.
We have been grooming the Lost Driving Range for this event, since before we opened last year. 2011 was a year of beginnings, mostly. For more information on what this event is comprised of, visit longdrivers.com or, just do a web search of the remax long drive championship, and look over the searches that appear.
